Outdoor Furniture.
Lost wax casting for this tables and sculptures is interesting. Imperial Finishes are sometimes used to color lost wax castings. Teakwood outdoor furniture construction utilizes an old and excellent technique. LOST WAX CASTING The origins of the lost wax casting process are shrouded in antiquity. Knights American Mechanical Dictionary lists bronze as one of the first metals used for casting in the cire perdue or lost-wax casting method as early as 2230 B. C. E. Brass, which is used in most of our lost-wax cast tables and sculptures, is very fine and very similar to bronze. As you can see, Lost-wax casting has been used for thousands of years to create metal objects that could not be produced in any other way (such as fine jewelry) because of their complexity. Bart Morel, in 1562 cast a candelabrum for the Seville Cathedral in Spain, and it remains an outstanding example of this method of casting. The numerous sculptured figures and statuettes, the foliage and the delicate scrollwork were also all cast in bronze. Museums preserve some of the famous sculptures of Lycippus and his fellow Greek sculptors who were using the cire perdue or lost-wax casting technique in the eighth century. Centrifugal casting, known also as lost-wax, cire perdue, disappearing model, and liquid forging is the method of casting that is most widely used. Centrifugal casting is a technique which gives clarity in detail . This was the technique used by Benvenuto Cellini and others in the sixteenth century. Each lost- wax sculpture begins life as a finely hand-carved Wax sculpture. After the model is touched up, vents and gates to channel the liquid molten metal into the mold are added. The model is then surrounded by a material that will withstand high temperature when baked. Following hours of baking, when the material has set and cooled, molten metal is carefully poured into the mold, melting the wax in the process ( hence the lost wax designation). This process, once finally cooled, reveals the painstakingly created details of the original of the original wax sculpture. Due to its high cost and complexity, the lost-wax method is a fading art form. This technique is proudly used to forge a breathtaking sculptured piece that will last for many generations.
Imperial Finish is a process designed to enhance the fine crafting of each piece. Each work is meticulously sculpted by hand, cast in solid brass, and finished in a unique new patina of color. The piece endures a time-consuming lost-wax technique to reveal unparalleled detail. Enjoy this beautiful artwork contemporary furniture table for a lifetime.
